How to Estimate Your Harvest Score

Before your trophy is officially measured, you can get a reliable estimate of your animal’s score using a few basic tools and the correct method for your species.

Scoring is not one-size-fits-all. Each animal is measured differently based on its natural structure. By following the proper steps, you can better understand what you have and how it may compare.

Each guide follows standardized measurement methods adapted for Longhunter use.

What You’ll Need

Record all measurements to the nearest 1/8 inch for the best estimate.

Before You Measure

  • Allow antlers, horns, or skulls to properly dry (when applicable)

  • Do not stretch or force measurements

  • Measure each section carefully and consistently

  • Double-check your numbers for accuracy

How Scoring Works

Most scores are based on a combination of:

  • Length

  • Width or spread

  • Circumference (mass)

  • Point or tine measurements (if applicable)

Each species uses a specific combination of these measurements to determine a final score.
